Scrum.org Creates Professional Scrum with UX (PSU) Course

Scrum.org has announced its new Professional Scrum with User Experience™ (PSU) training course. PSU is a 2-day hands-on course where students with some Scrum experience learn how to integrate modern User Experience (UX) and design practices into their way of working in Scrum.

The PSU training course teaches students how to successfully use UX techniques and Scrum together, giving students the opportunity to practice these techniques with cross-functional teams throughout the class. Students will leave the class with practical tools and practices to best work with their customers and user feedback to deliver higher value to the customer. Scrum.org and its Professional Scrum Trainers created this course with the authors of the book Lean UX, Jeff Gothelf and Joshua Seiden. “Design work can sometimes feel slow and not well suited to quick agile cadences and Scrum events, but that isn’t the case,” said Dave West, CEO and Product Owner, Scrum.org. “In this class we are bridging the gap between Scrum and UX techniques to help teams align and deliver more value to the customer. We are proud to have worked with Jeff and Josh to create this class, leveraging their expertise, experience and knowledge.” Students will leave this class understanding how to reconcile UX work with Scrum essentials such as the Definition of “Done”, Backlog prioritization and delivering “Done” Increments every Sprint.

“When creating this course, we wanted to bring together UX and Scrum in a unified way,” said Joshua Seiden, a member of the UX community and co-author of the Lean UX book. “We’ve created this in a way to include UX designers as full-time, collaborative partners on teams rather than relegating them to part-time members of teams. This course will teach students how to incorporate the work that UX designers do into an organization’s process, how to reconcile it with the core tenets of Scrum and how to make Scrum more user-centric.” Like all Scrum.org courses, the PSU course is taught by licensed Professional Scrum Trainers™ (PSTs) around the world, who bring their own style and experience to the courses, while leveraging common materials, allowing students to learn from real experiences in a consistent manner no matter which PST is teaching the course.
