This is a great article, that should be compulsory reading for IT Management in organisations adopting agile practices, especially Scrum. It also makes me look at my own CV in a different light - do I stick with a CV that plays to the often poor JDs and adverts, to get past the automated CV filters, or do I emphasise the real aspects of the SM role that I use everyday? If organisations start using good SM JDs, definitely the latter!

I can't express how timely this article is. The organization I work for is in the process of defining roles, especially my own as SM.
Conversations pertaining to the items you highlighted in the "bad" description seem to be never ending. If I had a nickel for every time I have had to explain why I am not a Project Manager and will not therefore be managing resources, tracking progress, or dependencies I'd be able to buy the company outright.

Thanks!
